SUMMARY:Covering Our Missing Black Children
DESCRIPTION:Join us on May 27 for a community discussion about missing Black children in the Washington\, D.C. area and the lack of comprehensive media coverage. \nModerator:\nJonquilyn Hill\, Host of Vox Media’s policy podcast The Weeds.\nHill hosted Through The Cracks\, a podcast series produced by WAMU\, which explored the case of Relisha Rudd who went missing at a DC local homeless shelter in 2014. Rudd\, who’s Black\, has yet to be found. \nConfirmed Panelists:\nNatalie Wilson\, co-founder of Black and Missing Foundation\nCaptain Jonathan W. Branch\, DC Metropolitan Police Department’s Youth and Family Service Division\nHenderson Long\, Community Activist. \nWABJ is hosting this media-centered town hall discussion in commemoration of International Missing Children’s Day and to help raise awareness about missing Black children and the need for more media attention about their cases.  \nAccording to the DC Metropolitan Police Department\, more than one thousand youths are reported missing in DC every year. Many of them have returned home. But several cases remain open.  \nLight refreshments will be served before the discussion begins.
