SUMMARY:Urban Journalism Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Since 1986\, Urban Journalism Workshop teaches local high school students interested in pursuing careers in media\, the fundamentals of journalism through interactive lectures\, hands-on training and field trips.  Professional journalists and educators from The New York Times\, The Associated Press\, ESPN\, SiriusXM\, and more lead these students through mentorship during this eight-week program.  UJW happens early March through late April 2025. \nWe encourage all DMV area-based students to apply by January 2026.

DESCRIPTION:WABJ has joined forces with Black and Missing Foundation (BAMFI) as a media partner. We’re committed to working together to address the critical issue of media bias in missing persons cases involving people of color.  Our mission is to create a comprehensive media guide that will help change the way newsrooms report on missing persons cases. \nOur second meeting will be held today- Saturday\, March 15th from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM EST via Zoom.
