SUMMARY:Urban Journalism Workshop Final Taping
DESCRIPTION:Since 1986\, Urban Journalism Workshop teaches local high school students interested in pursuing careers in media\, the fundamentals of journalism through interactive lectures\, hands-on training and field trips.  Professional journalists and educators from The New York Times\, The Associated Press\, ESPN\, SiriusXM\, and more lead these students through mentorship during this eight-week program.  UJW happens early March through late April 2025.  Applications are closed. We encourage all DMV area-based students to apply by January 2026.

DESCRIPTION:On May 31\, the Black and Missing Foundation will hold its “Hope Without Boundaries” 5K at the National Harbor in Fort Washington\, Maryland.\n\nThe Washington Association of Black Journalists (WABJ) has been selected as our “Media Partner of the Year.” This award recognizes the WABJ’s dedication to amplifying the issue of missing persons of color\, and specifically for your leadership in partnering with us to create and shape a media task force. The WABJ’s expertise has been invaluable in working to develop a comprehensive media guideline for news outlets\, as well as an impact matrix to measure the effectiveness of these efforts.\n\nThe event will draw 800 to 1\,000 participants\, including families\, BAMFI supporters\, media\, and law enforcement.
