Washington, D.C. β Today, the Washington Association of Black Journalists announced that Eugene Daniels, co-host of MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” is the 2025 recipient of the WABJ Legacy Award. This award recognizes a Black journalist whose sustained excellence and impactful work has left an indelible mark on the profession.
Daniels will be honored at the WABJ 4th Annual Special Honors & Scholarship Gala on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C. Tickets for the gala can be purchased here.
As co-host of MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” Daniels brings sharp political analysis and authentic storytelling to morning television, making him a trusted voice in political journalism. His insightful commentary and commitment to elevating important voices has established him as a vital figure in the political media landscape.

The awards gala is a fundraiser to support WABJ scholarships, year-round professional development programming, and the organization’s long-running Urban Journalism Workshop for D.C. area high school students, which is now in its 39th year.
