The Washington Association of Black Journalists’ 4th Annual Special Honors & Scholarship Gala tickets are sold out.
The gala will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Embassy of France in Washington D.C. The gala will commemorate our chapter’s 50th anniversary, and recognize and honor local Black journalists, communications professionals and students for their career achievements, leadership and public service. The theme is “Gold Standard: 50 years of Excellence in Black Journalism”.
This year’s awards will honor eight distinguished professionals in the categories of Lifetime Achievement Award, Legacy Award, Journalist of the Year, Young Journalist of Excellence Award, Excellence in Communications Award, Dorothy Butler Gilliam Trailblazer Award, President’s Award and the Dr. Sheila Brooks Community Impact Award.
Event Schedule:
6:00 p.m.: Cocktail reception
7:00 p.m.: Awards presentation and dinner
9:30 p.m.: After party
Dress code: Black tie
Tickets include access to the opening cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres, an open bar and a seated dinner. This gala will raise funds to support WABJ scholarships, professional development programming and our longstanding Urban Journalism Workshop for DC area high school students.
