Since 1986, Urban Journalism Workshop teaches local high school students interested in pursuing careers in media, the fundamentals of journalism through interactive lectures, hands-on training and field trips.  Professional journalists and educators from The New York Times, The Associated Press, ESPN, SiriusXM, and more lead these students through mentorship during this eight-week program.  UJW happens early March through late April 2025.

WABJ has joined forces with Black and Missing Foundation (BAMFI) as a media partner. We're committed to working together to address the critical issue of media bias in missing persons cases involving people of color.  Our mission is to create a comprehensive media guide that will help change the way newsrooms report on missing persons cases.
